LabVIEW for Raspberry Pi
The LabVIEW for Raspberry Pi is a product based on LabVIEW (Laboratory Virtual Instrument Engineering Workbench) by National Instruments. LabVIEW is a graphical programming language that uses icons instead of lines of text to create full-featured test and measurement applications.
Home Edition Standard Edition
The LabVIEW for Raspberry Pi is a compiler that takes a LabVIEW program, compile and download it to Raspberry Pi single board computers. The downloaded code will execute embedded and standalone on the Raspberry Pi. You will also be able to run fully functional LabVIEW Graphical User Interfaces (GUIs) off of the Raspberry Pi.
Two product editions are available. The Home edition is for makers, hobbyists, and students looking to leverage graphical programming for simple standalone embedded systems on low-cost Raspberry Pi hardware. It is also a great teaching tool for educators who will be able to leverage graphical programming running on a low cost single board computer.
The Standard edition is for professional use targeted towards test and measurement applications to:
- Reduce Overall Hardware Costs – Use low a cost single board computer running LabVIEW applications
- Run LabVIEW code embedded on an quad-core ARM processor
- Combine it with the Arduino Compatible Compiler for LabVIEW and Arduino HW for low cost test and measurements systems
Check out the video below showing a demo of a low cost Vibration Monitoring system built with a Raspberry Pi, an Arduino board, and leveraging the Arduino Compatible Compiler for LabVIEW and the LabVIEW for Raspberry Pi.
You can download the compiler and run it full featured in evaluation mode for seven days. Make sure to check out the full product user manual for instructions on how to setup your environment and the full list of all supported LabVIEW primitives by the Compiler.
– LabVIEW 2014 (Base, Full, Professional or Home) or Better
– Ethernet connectivity between the Development PC and the Raspberry Pi
